Advice

VISITING THE VET

We want all pets to enjoy visiting us. The best way to ensure this, is to make visiting the practice a positive experience from day one.

Whenever you bring your pet to see us come prepared with treats or toys to reward them for calm relaxed behaviour.

Get your pet used to being examined at home

For example:

- look inside their mouth

- down their ears

- pick up their feet

- run you hands over their ribs and stomach.

This has two advantages:

1. Your pet will be less concerned by a veterinary exam if used to being handled in this way.

2. Regularly examining your animal at home will allow you to pick up any abnormalities earlier than you would have otherwise.

If your pet has difficulties being around other animals or people feel free to leave them outside until your appointment to avoid the potential stress of the waiting room.
