MICROCHIPPING
A microchip is a small implant, about the size of a grain of rice, which is inserted under your pet’s skin, between the shoulder blades. This is a very simple and quick procedure.
The microchip is encoded with a 15 digit number which is unique to your pet. This number, along with your pet’s information and your contact details, is stored in a large central database.
If your pet goes missing or gets stolen, animal professionals (vets, dog wardens, staff of rescue organisations etc.) can scan your pet revealing the microchip’s unique number and then obtain your contact details from the central database. You and your pet can then be quickly and easily reunited.
While collars and tags can fall off or be removed, a microchip identifies your pet PERMANENTLY.
Please make sure that you update your contact details on the microchip database if anything changes. If your details are not correct, your pet may never return home!
