EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR YOUR NEW RABBIT

Somewhere for them to sleep e.g. a hutch for an outdoor rabbit or a cage for an indoor rabbit (until house trained new rabbits should be kept in a secure cage whilst unsupervised). The hutch needs to be big enough for the rabbit you are getting, sometimes a larger housing area is needed as the rabbit grows.

Plenty of hay - this makes up the majority of a rabbits food source

Rabbit food - pellet food is better than a mixed food. Pellets prevent the rabbit from selecting  favourite parts of the food and therefore not eating a balanced diet

Straw - this is great to use as bedding as it is warmer than hay and the rabbit will not eat it

Saw dust/cat litter - for the base of the toilet area in the hutch or the litter tray inside

Newspaper - to go underneath the saw dust/cat litter to act as another absorbable material

Tunnels and cardboard boxes to help prevent boredom when alone and provides something to chew on to help wear down teeth which continually grow and can cause serious problems if they become too long

Food bowl - nothing too deep so that the rabbit can easily reach its food

Water bowl/water bottle

A good disinfectant - to clean out the housing area

An outside run for the garden - it needs to be secure so that predators cannot get in and big enough so that the rabbit can have sufficient exercise
